Tallahasssee, FL natives; After The Smoke have been creating interest all over the web since the release of their funky, catchy and surprisingly addictive EP; White Girls & Red Velvet Cake. Their sound can most easily be described as Hip-Hop with a 'Weeknd' male R&B influence. After hearing 'Typical Weekend' (the opening track to their EP) the duo come across as light hearted, well produced Hip-Hop with a style that could be compared to Outkast. But then as the EP progresses, more is revealed about this elusive group. 'One In A Million', the second track to the EP, immediately changes up the pace with a dreamy melody and chorus alike which is where you start to recognise what I meant by that 'weekend' male R&B influence. It means the difference between, anothergoodhiphopduo and Ooo this is some new interesting shit. After hearing the whole project it becomes obvious that Whuzi and Speek; After The Smoke belong to a new wave of musicians.
After spending a long while scrolling through all the fascinating images on their Tumblr, It seems ATS know what they're doing, they have their own clothing line of Hip After The Smoke merchandise. And the content on there Tumblr is enough to distract any music enthusiast for at least a half hour, all linked to their online store and their new music video for the third track on the EP; 'UIE' (see below). Since the release of their EP, the pair have been dropping various new tracks on Soundcloud all of which seem to be trending more toward the funky hip-hop side of the collective. Which I Like. There seems to be no indication of any forthcoming's from the collective, but if you are feeling this vibe too, then you can keep up-to-date with After The Smoke on their;
I hope to hear more from the duo in the near future.Download their EP after the jump.
