After a 6yr hiatus one of Asia’s earliest dubstep rivals has returned. Having bumped into Mala at a FWD> night in 2005, his label DEEP MEDi MUSIK ended up dropping Goth-Trad’s album 'Mad Raver’s Dance Floor', a hectic dance album peppered with catchy break beats and some funky mash ups. At the time and even today it holds a distinctive sound. Six thousand miles away from the minimalist pulse of Digital Mystikz it was Tokyo’s take on British dance music from one of Japan’s veteran underground bass producers.
In the new year he’s back with his fresh album 'New Epoch', again to drop on DEEP MEDi MUSIK. The album is gritty and reminiscent of the kinda sounds that rumbled out of basement clubs across the capital 5yrs ago. But really embracing what dubstep was all about Goth-Trad doesn’t for a second shy away from taking us on a journey through his production career. He takes us on a wild one through London’s grimiest endz with shaking basslines and stomping kicks before whipping us right over Asia to pick up some glitchy beats and funk synths from Tokyo’s Shibuya district."You have to experiment, you have to develop, you have to move forward"
All this man’s ever done has been big so expect nothing less in the new year.
'New Epoch' drops February 6th, 2012 on DEEP MEDi.
